Tip Your Server

a poem about religious cheapskates.

Tip Your Server

Tip your server.
Tip them well.
So they can pay rent
and buy groceries
and go out to eat
and tip their server well.

Tip your server,
you after-church crowd,
soothing your soul
on a Sunday morning
And at one pm ordering
“Just water,” leaving a tract

with two crumpled one dollar bills.

Tip your server
to enjoy giving grace
and sustenance
while becoming the favorite
table to see among
the cheap church crowd.
