Love vs. Your Love

dark fog in the night,
only seeing twenty or thirty
feet in front of any face,
where lights speckling
only showcasing the swirling
mist in the damp air.

But your love is
Hard Teeth,
biting and thrashing
and gnawing all the way
into the soft tissue of
my unused pectoral muscle,
because these hands don’t raise anymore.


I am in the process of becoming a community chaplain with The Order of Hildegard. This program is designed to help form people into spiritual leaders that lead and serve from the margins.
